Some people think that marital counseling is appropriate for those who are going through a troubled marriage. But they are wrong. Counseling works in all aspects of marriage life.

Counseling in a marriage is a very useful asset to every couple because of the following:

? It builds a healthy and long-lasting relationship.
? It gives couples the chance to develop skills and tactics that they can essentially use to manage their lives together.
? It improves the relationship of married couples who are in crisis.
? It provides each partner with the appropriate coping strategies.
? It helps them communicate well and show mutual respect.
? It aids couples in managing any feelings of sorrow and others which may make the marriage unproductive.
? It helps couples recover after all the problems they have gone through.
? It assists couples in getting rid of negative behaviour and attitudes.
? It aids couples in coping with the various challenges and stressors that come their way.

In marriage, arguments tend to arise no matter how big or petty the issues are. As couples, you could either partake in the argument which would only lead to a downfall. However, if you choose to disperse the argument, then it will heal the marriage.

In marital counseling, couples are taught an important technique - argument diffusion. You?ve got to sympathize and understand the underlying issue that caused the argument. To diffuse anger, you laugh at it. With a serious argument, you can?t just laugh at it. But for all those years that you?ve spent with your partner, you surely know what makes him/her laugh, so go ahead and do it.

After all, ?Laughter is the best medicine?.
